The Counseling Department at Albion High School is comprised of
school counselors, a school psychologist, a social worker, and secretarial
support.
The goal of the Albion High School Counseling Department is to
assist every student in all aspects of their high school career…
and beyond.
The department provides the following services:
*individual counseling
*group counseling
*career planning
*transcripts
*college applications
*mediations
*service learning opportunities
*parent/teacher/student conferences
*BOCES information
*NCAA information
*assistance with SAT/PSAT/ACT
*scheduling
*testing
*much, much more!
Career Cruising is a program available to all students. It has
a database of four-year colleges, two-year colleges, and vocational-technical
schools. Aptitude and interest surveys are also available.
The Counseling Department hosts two College Fairs every October
and has over sixteen (16) area colleges and universities attend.
Future Day is held every spring and includes over 20 colleges, representatives
from military branches, and career experts.
The department also has group counseling to meet the various needs
of the students. There is an Anger Management group that helps students
deal with anger and problem-solving issues. The Mentor Program focuses
on improving the academic success of ninth graders. Another group
is called Connections, and it works on building healthy relationships.
Study Skills group focuses on helping students overcome test anxiety
and learn techniques to improve their performance.
The Counseling Center also houses a comprehensive career room containing
hundreds of college catalogs, financial aid information, college
videos, and various career resources. Many colleges visit Albion
High School frequently to offer information regarding their school.
The Counseling Department also provides many local and national
scholarship opportunities. Other programs include training sessions
on Choices.
