Albion
is committed to providing continuous staff development for both probationary and
tenured staff. New teachers to the district are part of a two-week orientation
program held prior to the opening of school. The orientation is designed to acquaint
new staff on the policies and procedures of the district as well as build confidence
in classroom management skills and build student success through effective teaching
practices. A
teacher mentor program provides follow up and support for first year teachers
in the classroom to help ensure a successful beginning as well as to help refine
and sharpen teaching skills. All
staff in the district are required on a yearly basis to take three in-service
courses. This requirement is meant to keep staff current on effective teaching
practices based on current research. Topics based on a needs assessment and district
long term objectives include: Multiple Intelligence, Cooperative Learning, Classroom
Management , Motivation and Learning, Character Education, Service Learning, book
talks, and training on computer software used in the classroom. |
