Albion Central School boasts one of the most advanced computer networks for school districts in New York State.

Each of our three school buildings are interconnected with fiber optics forming a district-wide area network.

The buildings have a local area network that allows the sharing of software, CDROMs and related resources.

The technical support staff at Albion offers on-site hardware and software assistance. A HELP desk is available for staff members to call and receive assistance with the use of technology.

Our advanced network and dedicated support staff allow students and staff members to use instructional software, electronic mail and the Internet.

Technology at Albion Central School is having a tremendous impact on classroom content and instruction. We are preparing our students to be technologically literate members of society who can succeed well into the 21st century.

Reasons for Success

  • The District is committed to training personnel on the software prior to classroom implementation.
  • Support groups for teachers using the programs are held on a regular basis.
  • The District operates a HELP desk and software library.
  • Integration of computers into the curricula is accomplished in two ways: (1) specific outcomes of ACSD curriculum are matched to lessons in the computer programs
    (2) teachers are trained in small group instruction using centers as one learning station.
  • Special Education teachers are included in the training so that curricula could be modified for students with special needs.
  • The District has a long range plan that includes budgeting for hardware and software purposes, training in curriculum integration, and extension to all content areas.
  • Technical support staff of six (6).
  • Administration, teachers, and students utilize electronic mail between classrooms, buildings, and other school districts.
