| What
is FFA? FFA
is a dynamic youth organization within agricultural education that changes lives
and prepares students for premier leadership, personal growth and career success.
FFA was created in 1928 as Future Farmers of America; the name was changed in
1988 to the National FFA Organization to represent the growing diversity of agriculture.
Today, almost half a million student members are engaged in a wide range of agricultural
education activities, leading to over 300 career opportunities in the food, fiber
and natural resources industry. Student success remains the primary mission of
FFA. (Taken from the 2003-2004 Official FFA Manual) Albion
FFA chapter has been active for many years. Students attend state and national
conventions, leadership workshops and more. FFA
students hold a yearly citrus sale for the community. FFA
has an active FFA Alumni Association. George McKenna DMV is the current president.
The FFA Alumni helped purchase a milk machine which is very popular and used frequently
by high school students and faculty. Amanda
Flansburg is the 2007-2008 FFA District Nine President. She succeeds Anna Metcalf,
Kerri McKenna and Caton McKenna as the fourth consecutive District Nine President
from Albion. Anna
Metcalf is the 2007 - 2008 New York State FFA President. She will work with 4,200+
members throughout New York State. This is the first time a student from Albion
FFA chapter has been elected to this office. |
