Charles D'Amico High School continues to be proud of the outstanding reputation established by long-standing performance. High standards and expectations exist for our students in academics, the arts, athletics, civic responsibility and behavior.

There are many established and recognized programs. Most notable is FFA and National Honor Society. The high school also benefits from cooperative college programs with Genesee Community College and SUNY Brockport which enable students to take college-level courses.

Students have the opportunity to select advanced placement courses from a growing menu of courses. Presently, students can select from seven different AP courses.

Albion High School is recognized as a leader in curriculum planning. Departments employ nontraditional assessment tools to evaluate the progress of students. Faculty continually seek ways in which student learning can be applied to real-world problems. MST projects are a way for students to apply their learning to a topic of personal interest.

The school operates under a block schedule (since 1997). Students schedule four courses each semester. Each 20 week block provides the opportunity for 85 minutes of daily instructional time. Students who take band, chorus, yearbook or newspaper journalism meet alternate days for 40 weeks.

Albion students are productive members of the local community. Students perform a minimum of 30 hours of community service as a requirement for graduation.

The junior year provides the opportunity for more real life exposure to careers through job shadowing experiences.

Many seniors participate in the Workplace II course. This provides the opportunity for a semester long internship in the students' field of choice. Some of the local agencies who provide internships are: Orleans County District Attorney's Office, Probation, Genesee-Orleans Ministry of Concern, Orleans Chamber of Commerce and Medina Journal Register.
