MST Program

A MST (Math, Science and Technology) project allows students to study a topic of interest in more detail than is traditionally covered within the regular classroom instruction. As a result of this project students will become an "expert" on their chosen topic. The integration of math, science, and technology is an important objective of the project. In addition, the skills obtained from independently researching a project of this magnitude will prepare students for future endeavors.

The MST project has six key components which include:

  • A Journal - an ongoing scientific journal that documents progress throughout the project
  • Project Proposal - a formal document in which students will determine goals and timelines for the project
  • Long Term Plan - a formal outline with specific details about the specific project including a graphic organizer
  • The Product - a finished product that can take a number of different forms
  • Presentation - an oral presentation to the class and instructor
  • Summary - a short paper describing the information learned, including all references

Students are given a project handbook at the beginning of their course to assist them with the various requirements of the MST project. Students can earn MST credits in math, science, and technology courses.
