| It
is the mission of the Carl I. Bergerson Middle School to create a positive atmosphere
and provide programs that foster the social, intellectual and emotional development
of the emerging adolescent, in order that each individual may realize his/her
highest potential and may begin to develop the self-discipline and citizenship
necessary to become a responsible member of the school and the community, both
now and in the future. Students
are taught and encouraged to take responsibility for their performance, behavior,
attitude and attendance. The
school's instructional program is enhanced by computer labs, academic acceleration
opportunities for eighth grade pupils, a bullying program and a wide range of
age appropriate extra-curricular activities for middle level students. The
Middle School strives to meet the needs of young adolescents in a broad range
of activities, which are listed below: -
All seventh grade students are given instruction in cultural diversity
- Students
participate in a number of interdisciplinary programs such as Civil War Day and
Medieval Day

strong character education program
- An
active National Junior Honor Society
- A
school bookstore which is run by students in 6th grade
- Club
PRIDE - a proactive student group that promotes a drug free school and community
