It is the mission of the Carl I. Bergerson Middle School to create a positive atmosphere and provide programs that foster the social, intellectual and emotional development of the emerging adolescent, in order that each individual may realize his/her highest potential and may begin to develop the self-discipline and citizenship necessary to become a responsible member of the school and the community, both now and in the future. Students are taught and encouraged to take responsibility for their performance, behavior, attitude and attendance.

The school's instructional program is enhanced by computer labs, academic acceleration opportunities for eighth grade pupils, a bullying program and a wide range of age appropriate extra-curricular activities for middle level students.

The Middle School strives to meet the needs of young adolescents in a broad range of activities, which are listed below:

  • All seventh grade students are given instruction in cultural diversity
  • Students participate in a number of interdisciplinary programs such as Civil War Day and Medieval Day
  • A strong character education program
  • An active National Junior Honor Society
  • A school bookstore which is run by students in 6th grade
  • Club PRIDE - a proactive student group that promotes a drug free school and community
  • Programs which promote the growth and well-being of young adolescents
