Albion Wins at Rich Stadium

Win at Rich Stadium

Join the Purple Eagles Varsity Football team on October 4th, as they celebrate homecoming and recognize the 40th anniversary of the 1979 football team's Section VI championship win at Rich Stadium.

The game will begin at 7pm as the Purple Eagles kick off against Olean.

If you are a member of the 1979 Section VI championship team, we would love to see you at the game!  The team will gather outside the varsity locker room at 5:30 pm.  They will meet the current varsity football team and give a pep talk prior to the game.

The Albion Alumni Foundation has purchased hats for the 1979 team champs and will recognize them during halftime ceremonies.

Below is a collection of photos and items highlighting that winning season.  Special thanks to Dan Monacelli and Marty Stirk for providing many of the photos.

Let's talk about Purple Eagle Pride!  23 buses left the middle school parking lot on November 10th filled to capacity with students and community members.  Many more fans followed the convoy of buses to the stadium and back in their own vehicles. Over 2,000 fans cheered on the team.  Community organizations donated more than $2,000 to make the game affordable for all students. I can't begin to tell you how exciting it was.  I was one of the students on that bus and the community spirit was overwhelming!

Hey cheerleaders!  They kept the spirit up and the crowds responded!  Behind them is the Albion contingent cheering on the team.
