Cody Wilson received 6th place in the NYS wrestling championships in Albany on February 28 & 29.
Wilson finished 2nd in the State qualifier, which was enough to secure a wildcard spot in the 285 pound weight class.
His record going into the championships was 26 - 3.
On Friday in his first round, Cody defeated Devin McGovern of Chester with a 5-0 decision.
In the quarterfinals, Jayden Heers of Newfane defeated Cody with a 4-0 decision. Heers would go on to win 1st place in the 285 pound weight class.
Cody then moved on to Wrestleback and pinned Ethan Burdo of Cold Spring Harbor in 1:43.
On Saturday, Cody defeated Spencer Dickinson from Whitehall/Ft. Ann with a 6-0 decision.
He then dropped a 2-0 decision to Tyler Rice of Norwich.
In his last match versus Isaiah Trago of Mount Markham, he went into overtime and was defeated by Trago with a 5-1 decision.
