Fourth graders recently participated in Native American Day, an annual event that spotlights Native Americans in NYS. The day is divided into many different activities that help students learn more about NYS history. One of the highlights was a presentation by Brockport High School social studies teacher Christopher Beryle. He showed students Native American artifacts from his personal collection. Some of the items he displayed and talked about were grass mats, snow shoes, jewelry, furs, blankets, clothes, a turkey caller (made from an actual turkey bone), and a hunting bow. The students were able to get an upclose look at the extensive collection and really enjoyed the hands-on learning experience.
