Albion Central Schools

COVID symptom processes and testing sites

In light of the New York State Health Department’s requirements for individuals presenting as symptomatic for COVID-19, we have generated a list of testing sites that may be helpful when scheduling a COVID-19 test, please see attached.

Once a student is sent home by the school nurse, or stays home due to an illness, they are encouraged to seek medical attention from a health care provider. Prior to your child’s return to school the following must occur:

  • A note from a medical provider AND
  • Negative COVID-19 test AND
  • Be symptom-free

Our intent is to have students return to programming as quickly as possible. Please remember that the above standards to return to school in person are being followed by Albion Central School District as mandated by New York State. This is required in order for us to be in compliance and keep our schools open.

As a school community we recognize the burden and stress this may cause and in some cases the financial hardship. Many insurance companies currently pay the full or partial cost of testing. However, should this not be the case and you are unable to pay for testing, the district – when possible – will assist with the cost.  If you need assistance, please reach out by calling the District Office at 589-2056, between hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.  We have been able to allocate a portion of the Community Set Aside Fund to support payment for this testing requirement.  Conversations will be confidential and situations will be addressed on a case-by-case basis.

As always we appreciate your patience and value our school and parent partnerships!
