Why did you want to do this job: I worked in Catering Sales at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center for many years. After I had my daughters I became a stay at home mother. When my daughters started Kindergarten in Brockport, I remember walking into the school and seeing all the kids and their teachers and thinking "I want to do that." I come from a long line of teachers so it was only a matter of time until I caught the "teaching bug".
What is your favorite thing about what you do here: My absolute favorite thing about teaching is when a student has an "A-ha" moment. I literally get goosebumps and tears in my eyes when a student realizes that they have mastered a concept or increased his/her reading level by sheer determination.
What has been your best memory since you worked at Albion: My favorite memory while working in Albion, is when our elementary team came together for support and help when a car crashed through my classroom full of 4th graders. My co-workers were amazing as they moved everything out of the damaged room (including students' items out of lockers and desks) and decorated a room on the second floor to look exactly like our original room. My students opened their new lockers and said "hey! everything is here." The entire episode was quite traumatic and the staff came together to assist both me and my students. I'll never forget this!
Do you have any advice or an inspirational quote you’d like to share: Teachers who put relationships first don't just have students for one year; they have students who view them as their teacher for life.
