In this segment of "News from the Nest," Superintendent Edwards interviews some of our middle school students to learn more about the different action teams they are involved in through "Leader in Me". This is the second of three video segments focused on “Leader in Me” and how this newly implemented, districtwide school improvement model is becoming a way of life in our buildings to help foster a culture of schoolwide leadership, prioritize growth mindset, and build life-ready learners.

More about "Leader in Me" :
Through "Leader in Me," there is a Student Lighthouse Team and an Adult Lighthouse Team established in each building. Each building has dedicated Eagle Time, a daily advisement period that allows for all students to focus on skill building. At the middle school level, the Student Lighthouse Team representatives help lead three action teams focused on leadership, academics and culture. During Eagle Time, students prioritize goal setting and ways to achieve their goals. Each classroom has 2-3 student leaders who help students master success-centered habits through student-produced educational videos and leading classroom activities and discussions. With student leaders rotating each quarter, the middle school will have over 100 trained leaders by the end of the school year.
In the next "News from the Nest" segment, Superintendent Edwards will visit high school students and staff to explore how "Leader in Me" has progressed in their building, how they are restructuring norms to best benefit students, while simultaneously creating an environment for school pride to flourish. 🦅
