Albion senior Renzo Tomasi recently competed in the American Welding Society's (AWS) Weld-Off Competition where he placed 3rd. His performance earned him a prize pack which included a $100 prize, and qualified him to compete at the Thruway Cup in Albany, NY in May. He also received a $1,000 scholarship that he will use when he attends Alfred State College this fall.
The competition was held on March 28 at the Northland Workforce Training Center in Buffalo. He represented the Orleans Career and Technical Education Center while there. Tomasi is enrolled in the Career and Technical Education welding program offered through the Niagara/Orleans BOCES. He was one of four students selected from the program to compete.
