The following awards were handed out by the Albion Central School Counseling Office this spring:
The New York State Comptroller Achievement Award is given in recognition of hard work, dedication and success. Congratulations to Mallory Ashbery & Zackary Baron
The St. Bonaventure University Scholarship Awards recognizes students for academic excellence and provides students with the opportunity to be given up to $88,000 over the course of four years of study. Congratulations to Kaitlin Bennett and Julia Button.
The Alfred University Scholarship Award goes to a junior who has taken a course of study that is college preparatory in scope and is for $72,000 over the course of four years. Congratulations to Gideon Pask for being selected as an Alfred University Scholar.
The Air Force recognizes students who have excelled in athletics as well as academics. The Air Force Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award is being given to Mackenzie Snook and Leo Bolton. The Air Force Math and Science Award goes to Kenadie Patten and Sawyer Brigham.
The New York Best Award for $500 in honor of Rick Recckio. This award recognizes one student from the graduating class who demonstrates a dedication to their school and is planning to attend college for Business. The recipient of this award is Oliver Beach.
The University of Rochester George Eastman Young Leaders Award recognizes a student who demonstrates high grades and challenging courses, has strong leadership experience at school and in the community, and extensive involvement in extracurricular activities. The George Eastman Young Leaders Award goes to Julia Button.
The University of Rochester Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony Award recognizes a student who demonstrates strong grades in rigorous courses in humanities and social sciences, leadership and dedication to community action, and a commitment to understanding and addressing difficult social issues. This year it is being given to Neveya Barnes.
The University of Rochester Bausch and Lomb Award recognizes a student who demonstrates high achievement and rigor in science and math classes and has made positive contributions to their school and community. This year it is being given to Nathaniel Miesner.
The Xerox Award for Innovation and Information Technology is being given to Gideon Pask.
NYS Attorney General Triple C Award: Recognizes the courage, character, and commitment of New York State’s outstanding students. This year is going to Madalyn Ashbery, James Harris and Dillon DiGiulio.
Each year the NYS Department of Education awards scholarships to graduating seniors based on academic excellence. The following seniors are being awarded $500 scholarships: Kenadie Patten, Leo Bolton, and Sawyer Brigham. Also, congratulations to Zackary Baron for being selected for the $1,500 scholarship.
It has been a long-standing tradition for Albion's art students to compete in the American Legion Auxiliary's Poppy Poster Contest. Every year students create posters in honor of soldiers who have died fighting for our country. This year's Albion winners are Justin Kania, Melodee Sager, and from the Elementary students Aubrey Stinson and Scarlett Neroni.
The GCC ACE Awards honors students who complete ACE courses and recognizes them for their outstanding scholastic achievement in each subject area. Congratulations to Zackary Baron as an outstanding scholar in Math, English, and Social Science.
Our last recognition is for Kenadie Patten. Last month Kenadie graduated from GCC with her associate’s degree. It is a true testament of Kenadie’s time management and dedication to her academics to earn her high school diploma and her college degree simultaneously. Congratulations Kenadie on this achievement.
