In this segment of "News from the Nest," Superintendent Edwards interviews some of our elementary students and staff to learn more about the different action teams they are involved in through the "Leader in Me" program. This is the first of three video segments focused on “Leader in Me” and how this newly implemented, districtwide initiative is taking flight in our buildings to help foster a culture of schoolwide leadership and growth.

More about the "Leader in Me" program:
Through "Leader in Me," there is a Student Lighthouse Team and an Adult Lighthouse Team established in each building. At the elementary level, the Student Lighthouse Team representatives help lead eight different student action teams, each making their own unique difference in the building. Elementary action teams generally meet once a week with their advisors and focus on skill building, practicing healthy habits, creating welcoming environments, and much more. The Adult Lighthouse Team helps to guide the vision and direction of the program, create new leadership opportunities, and ensure teachers are equipped with tools to effectively and regularly integrate "Leader in Me" messaging when communicating with students and families.
In the next "News from the Nest" segment, Superintendent Edwards will visit middle school students and staff and explore how "Leader in Me" has progressed in their building, and the foundational influence the program has had on their day-to-day learning experience. 🦅
