The Purple Eagles varsity swim team will take part in Laps for Life, a fundraiser for the Ronald McDonald House, this Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Webster Aquatic Center.

The annual event will feature eight local swim teams as the high school winter sports season begins. T-shirts and concessions will be available for purchase with all proceeds going to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Rochester. The charity supports the health and wellness of children and their families through innovative programming, supportive services and community partnerships.

The Laps for Life meet has existed for more than a decade. It began when money was raised for former Albion swimmer Nicholas Kovaleski, who was diagnosed with leukemia in 2010 and passed away from the disease the following year. Nicholas’ parents are both teachers at Albion and his dad, Jay, is the varsity swimming head coach.
